Jan Von Holleben was born in 1977 in Cologne and was raised in the southern countryside. Holleben's career started when he was at the age of 13. At first Jan's career was just fooling around and playing with a camera. He then went on to teach children with disabilities at the Padagogische Hochschule in Freiburg, Then he moved to London and earned a degree in the theory and history of photography at the Surrey Institute of Art and Design. Jan Von Holleben focuses on the "homo ludens" , the man who learns through play. Van Holleben gets most of his ideas from childhood memories.
